Very close by, also in Porto Cristo, are the Hams Caves (Cuevas dels Hams), another cave system with a music and light show on the Sea of Venice lake. The visit takes about 1 hour and the entry ticket is booked without transport (from €19 per person, according to the listing). They are not the Caves of Drach, but they are a good alternative or an addition if you are travelling on your own.

What the visit includes

The route is on foot along walkways between stalactites and stalagmites, ending at Lake Martel, one of the largest underground lakes in Europe. The visit ends with a classical music concert of about ten minutes played from a small boat, a tradition that has been kept for decades. Afterwards you can cross the lake by boat to the exit.

Duration and times

The walk through the caves takes about an hour. The tours suggested above last about 5 hours in total because they include the transfer there and back. Opening times and entry slots change by season, so confirm them when you book. It is one of the island's most popular visits, so booking ahead is a good idea, especially in high season.

How to get there

The caves are in Porto Cristo, in the municipality of Manacor, on the east coast of Mallorca. You have three options: take a tour with transport (the two above, with no driving or parking to worry about), go by car (about an hour from Palma towards Manacor and then Porto Cristo, well signposted) or use public transport, with bus lines linking Palma and Porto Cristo. If you prefer to go on your own, the entry-only ticket, without transport, is bought at the ticket office or on the caves' official website; check there for up-to-date prices and times.
